Unit Three  Space   Teaching aims: Complete simple tasks following a series of instructions   Understand and explain information provided in tables and graphs. Language focus: Is the earth heavier than the moon? Yes. It’s much heavier. The earth is one of the hottest planets. Tasks: Write a quiz based on a model. Listen and chant to practice talking about sports. Step1: Presentation 1.  Bring in or draw a picture showing the sun, the Earth and the moon and another picture showing the Big Dipper and the North Star. 2.  Tell the students that the sun is bigger and heavier than the Earth. The moon is smaller than the Earth. 3.  Ask the students to role-play the dialogue in groups of three. Step2: Show the students what the word bright means.   1. Have the students guess and give possible answers.   2. Show the meaning of near and far by putting a rubber and a pencil on the teacher’s desk and a ruler on a desk at the back of the classroom.   3. Tell the students that the word much can be used before the comparative if the difference between the two objects is great. Step3: A day in space 1.  Point to the pictures on the page. Explain to the students that the story is about a scientist working in the space station. 2.  Ask the students to tell you why astronauts will float away if they do not buckle into the bed. 3.  Talk with the students about the daily life in space.
