英語(yǔ)作文 篇1
Time flies like an arrow before we realize it .It is known that nothing is more precious than time. The good old proverb time is money reminds us that time is valuable. When time goes by, it will never return.
However, it is a pity that some people don't make full use of their time .They spend a lot of time in sleeping, chatting, playing computer games or other unmeaning matters. . They don't realize that wasting time is actually equal to killing themselves. They always regret not having made great achievements. One of the reasons may be they do not make good use of time.
Therefore, in order to be successful, they should first get into the habit of being on time. It’s a sign of cherishing time. Don't put off what can be done today until tomorrow. Being lazy will eventually lead to failure. Don't wait, because you don't know how long it will take when you put off your plan.
英語(yǔ)作文 篇2
There was once a little boy that wanted to be a good captain, but he knew that he was too poor to do that. So he made up a plan to go a world called Penny. It was a funny name but he didn’t mind. He also thought that his family wouldn’t let him to go on such a long trip, for Penny that world was a hundred100 miles more away. It was a very, very long journey for a boy only 10 years old to do.
He insisted that he would go away on a night when nobody could find him, so he set off on a day in March, 1981. He got his purse, starting his journey with bare feet. On his way, he met a little girl wishing so much for money. He picked up his purse, but found out that he had but only a little bit of copper coins, which was not enough for her.
He stopped a while for about 10 days to find a job to earn money. He was always kind, and was willing to help others when they were in need. At last he got 100 cents which were 100 silver coins, then he sent the little girl the coins wealthily. However, he still kept the copper coins in emergencies.
After two more days of journey, he arrived at a place where it was icy and cold. He knew that he couldn’t make it to Penny in time, so he made a comfortable shelter to stay in until spring. He started off in 1982. When he at last reached Penny, he found a good job, and paid it off with the copper coins.
He preferred the money to his whole family. He got $100 for the kind people who helped him when he was in trouble as a return. It was good that nobody ever questioned him where he was that whole time when he went back; but he was still glad that he could help his family. When he recovered, he felt a little bit sad, and lay down. The next morning when his parents came into his recovering house to take him home to rest, they found his two hands clasped on his white covered sheet bed, as if he had been dead.
His parents were shocked; they knew that it was the boy’s last sleep, they cried bitterly all night long, while there was still a smile on the hero’s face.

A test of spoken English will be included as an optional component of College English Test . Some people argue that it is absolutely necessary to hold a test of spoken English in China because we have been informed frequently that a Chinese student who has been learning English for over ten years cannot even communicate with a native speaker. A test of spoken English will bring the college students an awareness of the importance of oral English, and will thus help them with their communicating skills.
On the other hand, some others still maintain that a good command of reading and writing skills will be enough for the English learners. To some extent their opinion derives from the fact that students are already under considerable pressure from their coursework. Another required test will only add to their burden.
In my opinion, a test of spoken English will do more good than harm. Since China will continue its policy of opening and reform, the ability to speak English fluently is a must for anyone who wants to surpass others in a highly competitive society. Whether I take the test or not, I shall spare no efforts to practice oral English in the remaining years of my college study.

I believe that nothing is impossible if you put your heart into it.

Wealth and Happiness
Everybody wants to get wealthy. Today, making money or becoming wealthy symbolizes a person's success and capability. Many people try to make money at all costs. They claim that wealth can bring everything they want.
In my opinion, people cannot do anything without money, but money is not everything. What money will bring you depends on your personal belief and goal in life. If you are kind enough to help others, especially the poor, then money is a good thing to you. With it, you can do much more for the benefit of people and your country, and it will bring you happiness as well. If you want money to buy large apartments and luxury cars to keep up with others, or to pursue your materialistic enjoyment, you'll never get the true happiness and even lose some happiness you once owned.
In a word, money is a double-edged sword for happiness. You should have enough money spent for more people, only then can money be the source of your happiness.
英語(yǔ)作文 篇9
Today I did a thing that was well worth doing although I was misunderstood at the beginning.
This morning on my way to school, I was riding when I heard a call for help. A girl fell into the river! I got off my bike, took off my clothes and jumped into the river. After a few minutes' struggle, I finally saved the girl, I informed the girl's parents and then hurried to school. But I was still late for class. Not knowing the reason, the teacher criticized me.
In the afternoon, the girl's parents came to my school and thanked me for having saved their daughter. After the teacher learned the whole thing,he made an apology to me. And the headmaster praised me and also called on all the students to learn from me. I felt very proud.

A recent investigation shows that about 80 percent of pupils have private tutors.Such a popular practice indicates that people are attaching greater importance to education. Many parents, for various reasons, missed the chance of obtaining a good education. When their children meet with difficulties in study, they are helpless. Private tutoring is the only solution. As private tutoring is usually one-to-one, the teacher knows the strong points as well as the weak points of the pupil clearly.
However, private tutoring has its own disadvantages. For one thing, it takes up so much of the pupils’ time that they can hardly find enough time for rest and entertainment, which are essential for their physical and mental health. For another, some teachers, busy “shuttling” from one family to another, tend to neglect their regular teaching duties. What’s more, some teachers are eager to help pupils do well in the test, offering the so-called tips for test-taking rather than help them acquire what is more meaningful.
Generally speaking, its disadvantages outweigh its advantages. Greater emphasis should be laid on classroom teaching and practice, on the improvement of teaching quality and on the tapping of pupils’ potentials. Only in this way can a new generation be healthily brought up.
