Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic The most unforgettable Person I ever Know. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:

3.結(jié)論。

In my life I have met a great many people who are really worth recalling. But perhaps the most unforgettable person I ever know is my English teacher.

What frequently brings back memories of my school teacher is his special qualities. First and foremost, he gave us the greatest gift a teacher can offer—an awakening of a passion for learning. He not only led us to an appreciation of the beauty and perfection of English language and literature, but also aroused our great interest in exploring something deeper in this field. Furthermore, I was attracted by his lively wit. I remember that we students always anticipated his class with great eagerness because his lecture were humorously delivered, never failing to provoke chuckles or loud laughs.

Although it is nearly two years since I attended his last class, he is the talk of our old classmates, and I know part of him has already stayed in my heart.

Create Your Own Life

Create Your Own Life

Sometimes things happen to you that may seemhorrible, painful, and unfair at first, but uponreflection you find that without overcoming thoseobstacles you never would have realized yourpotential, strength, willpower, or heart.

Illness, injury, lost moments of true greatness, andsheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of yoursoul. Without these small tests, whatever they may be, life would be like a smoothly pavedroad to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.

If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helpedyou learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everythingthat you possibly can for you may never be able to experience it again.

Talk to people that you have never talked to before, and listen to what they have to say. Youcan make anything you wish of your life.

Create your own life and then go out and live it with absolutely no regrets.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic of Academic Plagiarism following the outline given below in Chinese. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

1.學(xué)術(shù)抄襲現(xiàn)象日趨嚴(yán)重;

2.分析學(xué)術(shù)抄襲現(xiàn)象產(chǎn)生的原因;

Academic Plagiarism

Nowadays, the problem of academic plagiarism becomes more and more serious. In order to earn academic titles, some teachers plagiarize others' academic papers; in order to graduate smoothly, some college students plagiarize others' graduation papers. Everything has its reasons; academic plagiarism is no exception.

First, college authorities put too much emphasis on papers while conferring academic titles and graduating students. Second, modern technology makes it unprecedentedly easy to get information and materials. Some plagiarists who are morally corrupt can't resist the temptation and decide to take risks. Third, the system of censorship and penalty are far from being strict, encouraging plagiarism to some extent.

Plagiarism causes many bad results. On the one hand, plagiarism infringes original writers' right and it is unfair for teachers and students who don't plagiarize. On the other hand, plagiarism may spread negative thoughts which in the end will ruin colleges' fame. Therefore, I suggest college authorities should not regard papers as the only criterion for evaluating teachers and students. Besides, much stricter system of censorship and penalty should be applied.

Internet Slang

Internet slang such as LOL (laughing out loud) and ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing) enjoys great popularity among teenagers nowadays. In fact, it becomes so popular that many terms now cross from computer-mediated communication to face-to-face communication. Some teenagers even use them in essay writing.

People have different opinions towards this phenomenon. Some people say that it will help enrich the language system and make language diverse. But others disagree, saying that these new words, being abbreviations for existing, long-used phrases, don't "enrich" anything; they just shorten it and their total effect on language will be trivial.

In my opinion, Internet slang has little effect on language in general, but will greatly influence individuals', especially teenagers' language development. The reason is that overuse of Internet slang will lead to the lack of proper punctuations and grammar and has numerous misspellings in writing. That will drastically reduce chances of employment when students graduate and seek jobs. So, for the sake of their future, teenagers had better refrain from Internet slang.

Open Courses

Online open courses are gaining popularity in recent years. Following globally famous universities like Yale and Harvard, some universities in China have also started to offer online open courses. Those courses have attracted people from all classes with different occupations.

The courses have brought many benefits to people. Many of the courses are provided by universities in foreign countries, and thus offer fresh ideas to us. Through them, we can keep up with what people are thinking all over the world. But that can also be a problem. Some of the courses may not be very suitable for Chinese students because of cultural differences and may cause chaos on Chinese campus.

In my opinion, online open course is useful and we should make use of it to broaden our horizons. But we should also remember to have our own thinking and not be brainwashed by improper ideas.

My sister go to the cinema at least once a week.

My sister goes to the cinema at least once a week.

2、There be句型的誤用。

例如:There exists some new problems such as being dishonest.

There exist/arise some new problems such as being dishonest.

It is my point that reading must be selectively.

In my opinion, reading must be selective.

This test is end, but there is another test is waiting for you.

One test ends, but another is waiting for you.

We should read books may be useful to us.

We should read books which may be useful to us.

The traffic accident was taken place at the junction of two highways.

The traffic accident took place at the junction of two highways.

They should spent much time.

They should spend much time.

In modern society, people are under various pressures(誤)

In modern society, people are under various kinds of pressure.

I was walking along the road, and there are not so many cars on the street.

I was walking along the road and there were not so many vehicles on the street.

We have little time to read some books which we interest.

We have little time to read some books in which we are interested.

We must pay attention to it and make solutions to the problem.

We must pay attention and find a solution to the problem. (正)
