suggest 是個(gè)及物動(dòng)詞，后面可以跟名詞、代詞、動(dòng)詞 -ing 形式或從句作它的賓語。各種試題對(duì) suggest 的考查通常涉及到它的非謂語動(dòng)詞形式、賓語從句及賓語從句的虛擬語氣等方面。下面就結(jié)合歷年高考試題，對(duì) suggest 的用法作一小結(jié)。
考點(diǎn)一、 suggest 作“間接表明;建議;使想起”解時(shí)，后面可以跟名詞、代詞或動(dòng)詞 -ing 形式作賓語。例如：
�、� That girl's sun-tanned face suggests excellent health. 那個(gè)姑娘被太陽曬黑了的臉表明她身體非常健康。
�、� Mr. Smith suggested a way out of the difficulty. 史密斯先生提出了一個(gè)克服困難的辦法。
�、� An explanation suddenly suggested itself to me. 一種解釋突然出現(xiàn)在我的腦海里。
�、� I have written him a letter and suggested his sending it to the Ministry of Culture. 我給他寫了一封信，并建議他把它寄給文化部。
suggest 后面可以跟“ to sb to do sth ”結(jié)構(gòu)。其中的介詞 to 不能省略。動(dòng)詞不定式短語 to do sth 作賓語補(bǔ)足語。例如：

考點(diǎn)二、 suggest 作“建議”解，而且后面跟 that 從句作賓語時(shí)，賓語從句中的謂語動(dòng)詞用虛擬語氣，即謂語動(dòng)詞用“( should )動(dòng)詞原形”。例如：
�、� Almost all his friends suggested that he visit Mr. Johnson at once.
② —— The experiment has failed!
---- I suggest you try again.
考點(diǎn)三、 suggest 作“表明、說明、暗示、指出”解，而且后面跟 that 從句作賓語時(shí)，賓語從句中的謂語動(dòng)詞用陳述語氣。例如：
�、� He often came to the theater， but his attitude suggested he was not really interested in the play.
② Jane's pale face suggested that she was ill， and her parents suggested that she have a medical examination.
例②中第一個(gè) suggested 作“表明、說明”解，所以其后的賓語從句的謂語動(dòng)詞用陳述語氣;第二個(gè) suggested 的意思是“建議”，所以其后的賓語從句的謂語動(dòng)詞用虛擬語氣，其中的 should 被省略了。
考點(diǎn)四、在下列含 suggest 的句式中，如果 suggest 表示“建議”時(shí)，其后的賓語從句的謂語動(dòng)詞仍然用虛擬語氣。
句式一、 It's suggested that…… (有人建議……)例如：

句式二、 What ( All that ) sb. suggests is that…… (某人建議的是……)例如：

考點(diǎn)五、名詞 suggestion 的用法。
suggestion 作“建議”解，后面跟同位語從句時(shí)，以及 suggestion 用作主語，后面跟表語從句時(shí)，從句中的謂語動(dòng)詞均用虛擬語氣。例如：
